Staying healthy in the winter is easier than it seems. Although it is flu season, there are numerous ways to adopt healthy habits in order to remain feeling like your best self throughout these cold months. We have compiled a list to keep you healthy:
1.Practice Good Hygiene: make sure you are showering everyday, especially if you participate in sweat inducing activities. Wash your hands after going to the bathroom, being in populated areas, after touching the menu at a restaurant, before and after eating, and if you sneeze or wipe your nose. Wear only clean clothing and socks.
2. Eat Seasonal: good nutrition is a great way to stay on top of your health. Eating poorly has a negative effect on the immune system, making you more susceptible to getting sick. Fresh fruits, veggies, nuts, legumes, and grains are chock full of antioxidants and flu fighting ingredients
3. Get Enough Sleep: this cannot be stressed enough. The body needs sleep to recover and revitalize for the next day. Without it the body cannot function properly and the immune system becomes suppressed and leaves you vulnerable to sickness. This is a great healthy habit to have year round!
4. Hydration, Hydration, Hydration: we repeat this three times because of its importance. Drinking enough water throughout the day can make or break your health. It is cold out and a hot drink might seem more appealing, but you cannot neglect drinking water. The symptoms of dehydration are far worse than a cold glass of water in the winter.
